New poker routine this week.

This week I am going to attempt to play on a schedule. For an hr or 2 between the hours of 9-12 . I plan on only playing at the desktop in the office, while doing nothing else. No more than 6 tables .No other time during the day. I also will record my daily results each day. I will stick to this for this week and see how it affects my game. I am currently in the top 10 for .5/1 this month. $300 away from 1st. I would like to try and finish in the top 3.

Very Interesting. Great plot. Could have been just as good if they cut out 20 minutes or so.

Good movie. A little long and drawn out. Reminded me of The Notebook. Recommend watching it.

Surprisingly good. Great thriller.

Decent movie. Reminded me of the older days of Jim Carey. Somewhat like Liar Liar.

Don't expect this to be like the rest of Seth Rogens recent movies. It was good though. A little slow but picked up well. Great cast though. Basically the entire cast of Clerks and Katie Morgan :). Story line actually wasnt that cheesy.

Slumdog Millionaire-*****
One of the best movies i have seen in a while. Kept your attention the entire time. Great plot. Plays on lots of emotions. Probably will win the oscar for best picture. A must see.



The Wrestler-****
Very good. Especially if you grew up watching WWF or WCW. You will connect a little more with it. Great acting. Not the best ending. Worth seeing in theaters.




Gran Torino-****
Very good. Clint Eastwood is amazing in it. Plays the role to perfection. Surprisingly very funny at times. Recommend seeing it. Its worth seeing in a theaters.





Righteous Kill-***
Not bad. Didnt expect it to be great. Matched its expectations. Still a decent movie with a twist. Worth renting.

Kung-Fu Panda-***
Not amazing. Pretty good. I'm not the biggest Jack Black fan. But if you are i'm sure u will love this movie. Its worth renting.

So frustrated at poker

I spent the last 2 days slowly grinding. Up 250 over those days. Played perfect and felt great. Start a session tonight and lose 300 in an hr. 10 caps. I hate complaining about running bad. I lost every coinflip and every freaking hand. I'm sick of it. I felt like puking. I seriously am pissed. I never run hot. I used to be proud of the fact that I didnt tilt and wouldnt get mad about bad results. But over the passed 2 months I lost that and I cant handle it. I do everything I can. After a big losing session I take a few days off and grind back up and ofcourse it fucking happens again. I only started saving hands half way through but here are some beats I took tonight.

After looking them over again. I lost 6 straight times when I was 80% to win.

Equity-.80(60)=48*6=288
Actual winnings= -240

Thats 528 below equity. Not considering the 6 coin flips I lost and should have won atleast half right.

Looking at the numbers doesnt make me feel better. It actually makes me feel worse. If I was losing bc i was playing bad at least I could improve. I cant improve my luck.

I also have an unheathly addiction to checking tableratings. I try to be at the top of the lists for my limits etc and its really messing up my mental game.

At this point in the month I am down 600.(up 300 after rakeback and bonuses) Before today I was leading .5/1 for the month so thats a positive.My losses come from 1/2 where down over 2k. As I stated before I am only playing .5/1 for the rest of the month and starting tomorrow I am setting a stop loss at 200.

With school starting back I really dont want to waste my time playing poker. I dont enjoy it anymore. Its a job for me and one that over the past few months has not been that profitable. I have enough money to last a few months without cashing out but i still need to play to make some. I am mostly upset bc I had a false high from aug-mid nov. Where I was crushing the games making 3-4k a month and got so used to it and so used to the money coming in. I suppose I will have to start budgeting myself bc it looks like poker will not be a place for me make tons of money.

Other than poker my life is going great so I guess I shouldnt complain. Id rather not be winning at poker and have a great life then the opposite.

New Semester

Balancing Classes with Poker
Over Christmas Break I played ALOT of poker and actually started to enjoy it again. Though I am still overall down (up with rakeback). This being my last semester of school I'm in the mood to try and do well. Might just be bc its the beginning of the semester. I dont like being stressed about making sure I put in hrs to play poker. So i'm going to take the rest of this month and just play when I feel like it and not worry. I have enough money in the bank to cover expenses for a few months anyway so no need to stress over that. Just cant go on spending sprees like i did in the fall when i was making 3k a month.

Classes

Mergers and Acquisitions
Seems like it is going to be hard. The material is supposedly pretty difficult stuff. Exams will be in the format of CPA exams. So that means everyone will get Cs on them.

German 101
Not actually enrolled but i'm sitting on it. I think i'm going to enjoy this a lot, I have always wanted to learn another language so this is a start. Though the timing of this class is inconvenient. Its in the morning and the rest of my classes are in the evenings.

Market Place
Basically this is just one intense in depth simulation. I'm kinda intrigued right now but i'm sure that will wear off. Next Tuesday is the draft for teams. I plan on keeping it updated on here how the simulation is going but without to much details in case the competition is reading.

Personal Financial Planning
Probably the only class in 5 years of college that I'll actually use in real life. Can't wait to get into some of the topics in this class.

I have only watched the first 2 seasons of 24. They were both awesome, but I felt like every season was the same thing. The U.S. was getting attacked and Jack Bauer had one day to save the day. So, I haven't watched a season since.

Today was the premiere of the new season. I have to say that it was amazing. I plan on watching this season.

Made another 10 caps at .5/1 today as well as another 100 bucks at 1/2. Up 400 on the day. Starting to get the feel for it again. Still down 500 on the month though :(. Even with the Christmas bonus. :)

I am totally crushing rakeback too. I havent played this many hands since October. In Oct. I finished with 1500 in rakeback. My goal for this month is 2k (unless classes are hard then 1500)

The premiere was good. Not great. Set a lot of new storylines for this season. None of which is anywhere close to the old days with the Carver though. It looks as though it may be better than the past 2 seasons. Just my opinion.

Finally made some money today. Up around 300. I'm crushing the .5/1 game but I my hands still cant hold up at 1/2. I'm the number 1 at .5/1 this week up around 800.

Nip/Tuck Season 6 starts tonight. The show that got me addicted to TV series will finally begin. After the first 3 seasons being amazing the last 2 have been awful. If this season doesnt do it for me ill be giving up on it. I remember the good old days when ever college student wanted to be Christian and Sean and one of the best seasons in TV series history with the Carver. I loved watching it. It was like watching a really long Scream movie. Always trying to guess who the killer was. After that the show has gone way down hill. We shall see tonight if its going to get better or not.

Tom "Durrrr" Dwans Challenge

Durrrr, one of the best and most famous online poker players has made a challenge to anyone (except Phil "OMGclayaiken" Galford) to play him Heads Up 4 tables over 50k hands at 200/400 or higher. Laying 3 to 1 odds. 500k to his 1.5million.

Phil Ivey has accepted and I cant wait to watch this. There is potential for someone to lose around 10 million. Ivey finished number 1 last year up around 8 million with Galford finishing 2nd and Durrr 3rd. I would love to see Ivey break Durrr's bankroll. I have never liked him and I think he is doing this to try and get attention. Who knows. But this will be something to look forward to when its starts.

Overuse of LOL and LMAO

In my opinion LOL and LMAO are used way to often and has already lost their meanings. When someone says something as a joke the first reaction is to LOL as a response. Though u probably didnt actually Laugh out Loud. You just smiled or grinned. But those Smiley faces are so annoying especially if they are used often. So people LOL or the rebels HAHA. Both meaning roughly the same thing. A way at acknowledging you were impressed at what they said.

One difference I have come across between the two would be the use of HAHA as sarcasm. Someone make fun of you so u reply back HAHA. LOL is not used as much as sarcasm.

Back to my point. LOL is used too much. LMAO is used usually when u actually Laugh (or atleast in my case) but that should not be the case LOL should be used when u laugh. LMAO should be saved for the extreme cases where you are Laugh your Ass off particularly for a greater period of time. 20 seconds or so. I feel LMAO should be used only if something was so funny that if you were in a room with others they would say. "What? Whats so funny?"

So what do we use then when we just smile at something someone says. Not the smiley face. Thats more for flirting with girls. (especially the winky face ;) ). Well I think BG should be used. Standing for Big Grin. Bc thats all i did. i just grinned as i read what you wrote. I didnt LOL and im not going to attempt to make you feel better about yourself bc u think I LOLed. When infact I just grinned.

****EDIT*** I also just realized that LOL is used when you want to show that you are saying something funny. "Man I just did this LOL". It is like you are begging for someone to LOL you back. HMMM. Havent had time to think about that one yet.

Well after dropping 1000 today I realized that i cant play 9 tables. My account cant handle the variance from 9 tabling 1/2. I'm gonna just 6 table .5/1 for now. Its so irritating to know what you are doing and still lose while you watch your friend do the same thing and make 10k in a 3 weeks.

Since the last post I made a good amount cashed out a good amount then lost a good amount. So basically I bought cool stuff but my account is low and that sucks. Starting fresh again with new strategy and new bankroll and hope to build it up fast. Finished the year up 20k.

January Goals

Put in a bunch of hands.
Dominate rakeback. ($1500-$2000)
Play way more focused.
I will be satisfied with profit of 1000 for the first month as I get used to my new style.

Non Poker

New semester/year should be great. New classes so thats always exciting. New 50 inch plasma tv. Cant wait for LOST. Congrats to Justin for watching 4 seasons in 3 weeks to catch up. Maddy you are way behind. New poker strategy with a new excitement for the game again. Less people in the house should be really relaxing and much much cleaner. WVU Basketball looks amazing.

Oh yea. I got a job :). I start with Grant Thornton in the Tax department in September 09 in the Mclean, VA office.

Non Poker Goals

Catch up on the Office before it returns.
Completely organize and clean our house.
Start a workout schedule and buy some equipment.
Stop eating fast food for 10 meals a week.
Get organized with classes and attempt to care more than last semester.
Convince a specific girl to come visit. (work is overrated)
